Who it is for

Salón pro psy Viky grooms, bathes and trims dogs of every breed in Ostrava, Bohumín and Karviná. It has eighteen years of practice behind it and specialises in Pomeranians and Shelties, double-coated breeds that need more than a quick trim.

The visitor is a dog owner looking for someone to trust with their dog. They want to see how the salon grooms, what it will cost and whether it is close by. Then they call.

The idea

Bookings happen only by phone, so the site has one job: keep that call short.

The salon has no online booking. Appointments are agreed by phone, the number is for bookings only, and the grooming happens in three towns, in Karviná on just two days a week.

So the site answers everything someone would otherwise ask on the call: what it costs, where to find the salon, what a groom includes and whether mixed breeds are welcome. The call button stays in view wherever the visitor is on the page.

How I built it

salon-viky.vercel.app
The before-and-after section of the Salón pro psy Viky site: a Pomeranian photo split by a slider, with the other dogs listed beside it.

Before and after, on a slider

Five dogs who actually come to the salon, photographed before and after their groom. A handle in the middle of the photo slides between the two, and a list beside it lets you jump from the Pomeranian to the mixed breed or the Sheltie. The change shows itself, so I never had to describe it with adjectives.

The Salón pro psy Viky price list: three illustrated dogs with tags from 350, 450 and 700 CZK.

Prices by the size of the dog

Three prices by size: small breeds from 350 CZK, medium from 450 CZK and large from 700 CZK. Instead of a table there are drawn dogs wearing price tags, so you can tell at a glance where yours belongs. The exact figure is agreed on the call, but nobody has to ring just to find out what kind of money it is.

The questions that would otherwise come by phone

The six questions the salon hears most: what a groom costs, how to book, where to find the salon, whether mixed breeds are welcome, which breeds it specialises in and what a groom includes. Below them are all three addresses, the days each one is open and a link to the map. Whoever calls already knows where and when to come.

The small things

  1. 01

    Call from anywhere

The call button sits in the top bar, in the opening section and at the end of the page. On a phone, one tap dials.

  2. 02

    When someone picks up

Right under the button it says bookings are taken on weekdays from 9 to 18. Nobody rings into silence on a Sunday evening.

  3. 03

    A gallery like a pinboard

Twelve photos of the salon's dog clients, scattered and tilted like Polaroids. It reads like the pinboard in the salon, not a catalogue.

  4. 04

    Captions that look handwritten

Short notes beside the photos, such as “Sheltie at a club show”, are set in a typeface that looks handwritten.

  5. 05

A consent question in plain words

The cookie bar does not talk like a form. It asks: “May we count visits?”

  6. 06

    Described for search engines too

The salon is described to Google in structured data, not only in the text on the page.

Colour and type

A full orange, a chocolate brown in place of black and a pale apricot for surfaces. Headings are set in the rounded Chillax, body text in Parkinsans, and the notes beside photos in Shantell Sans, which looks handwritten.
